Suspected Harasser Asked: 'Yet Imagine I Could Be Madeleine?'

A individual accused with harassing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a recorded message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.

A separate phone message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Is that not crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," the message continued.

The jury was told that by means of electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, sent early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who collated the information, told the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will continue and I will prove my position."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using messaging service to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the months preceding the appearance to the village, the county, in that winter.
