Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
