Ex- NFL Athlete Antonio Brown Files Innocent Response in Murder Attempt Trial

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to face an attempted murder allegation connected with a incident that occurred in May, with his counsel filing a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Jail documents in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his relocation to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular players in the National Football League, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was detained after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an message that he has earlier submitted a written not guilty declaration to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a release hearing, Eiglarsh stated.

According to his detention warrant, Brown is charged of taking a handgun from a security employee after a public figure boxing event in May and firing multiple rounds at a person he had confronted with previously. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed investigators that one of the bullets scraped his neck.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was merely defending himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was compelled to take were exclusively in self-protection against the claimed individual’s aggressive behavior. Brown was attacked that night and acted within his lawful privilege to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not promptly detained because originally officers did not identify Nantambu as a target. It only later in May that Nantambu provided a detailed statement about the situation to officers and identified Brown as the gunman, the affidavit indicates.

Based on his online content, Brown had been staying in Dubai for multiple period. In a post after the incident, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “assaulted by several people who attempted to steal my possessions and inflict physical injury to me.”

A level two murder attempt accusation in Florida imposes a highest 15-year prison penalty and up to a $10,000 fine in the case of a guilty verdict.

Brown has faced multiple court problems over the years. He before had been alleged of assault of a delivery operator, several domestic violence allegations, inability to pay child support and other incidents.

Throughout a 2021 season contest with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets, Brown took off his uniform, shoulder pads and gloves and left the stadium, resulting in his dismissal by the team and virtually ending his NFL career.

Brown, who completed twelve years in the National Football League, was an top-tier player who spent the majority of his career with his team. For his career, Brown had over 900 receptions for over 12,291 gains, the 28th most of all time. He was a multiple-time prestigious choice.
